VERIVERY Tackles a Mature Concept in ‘SERIES ‘O’ “ROUND 1 : HALL”‘ Album

On Tuesday, March 2, Jellyfish Entertainment’s VERIVERY held their comeback showcase for their second single album, SERIES ‘O’ “ROUND 1 : HALL.

Members Yongseung, Dongheon, Yeonho, Hoyoung, Gyehyeon, and Kangmin were eager to greet the public after six months since their last comeback with their fifth EP album Face Us. Minchan, who has been absent from group activities since last year due to health issues, did not participate at the showcase and will be absent from the album’s promotions. Although they feel saddened by his absence, the members eagerly wished for his speedy recovery. Yeonho reassured fans by saying, “Minchan promised that he would return the favor to the fans by coming back with a great performance since the fans have supported him and waited for him.

The new album’s title song, “Get Away” was unveiled at the media showcase and was described as a reggae-pop track. Dongheon enthusiastically described their title track as a “very attractive song with a lethal and a very dreamy vibe.” When asked to showcase the highlight of their choreography, Yeonho and Hoyoung were nominated to show the “escape” dance, which involved bringing your hands up and pulling one hand back, as if you are breaking free from handcuffs.

When introducing their album, Yongseung shared that the “O” in the album title can be interpreted in multiple ways, “…if you look at the alphabet ‘o’, various things will come up on your mind. We also put various symbolic meanings in the ‘O’ such as holes, dots, lenses, circulation, infinite possibilities, loops and connections etc.

The story is about how young people who live busy and hard lives these days have dark inner sides in them and when they admit it and face it, they can seek the balance in their lives.”

SERIES ‘O’ “ROUND 1 : HALL” is an extension of the group’s ‘FACE IT’ trilogy that was released in 2020. Through the new album, the members explore the idea of inner darkness and how we can coexist with it. “The story is about how young people who live busy and hard lives these days have dark inner sides in them and when they admit it and face it, they can seek the balance in their lives.” shared Yongseung.

Yeonho added, “In this SERIES ‘O’ [album], we tried to capture the inner darkness that each person has and face everyday. Cause I think the darkness can be defined differently by people.”

In the “Get Away” music video, the group receives a mysterious letter from an unknown figure inviting them to a mysterious party. But what appears to be an innocent night of festivities takes a dark turn as the members succumb to their inner darkness.

VERIVERY proudly shared that the new album allowed them to explore new concepts that they have yet to try. From their visuals to their music, the comeback is credited as the group’s most mature concept they have ever had to date. In order to prepare, Gyehyeon shared that they diligently exercised and dieted in order to suit the “fatal and sexy” concept of the album. So we paid a lot of attention to make maturity come out of our bodies.he said. This activity marks the beginning of the album, so I hope the message we mentioned before gets delivered well.” The members also shared that this was the first time they worked with backup dancers and enjoyed the experience.
